5.1 Infrastructure

Regarding infrastructure, the town has asphalt and gravel roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa. In the town, there are 4 main roads, while the remaining are secondary, collector and local roads. The distribution of roads as per the materials of construction shows that 19.58 km are asphalt, 15 km gravel and 7.5 km cobble stone roads.

The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, and has wireless, mobile and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 600 boxes. The main water supply source of the town is potable underground water distributed through piped network and 27 public taps. The town has closed and open ditches to discharge storm water and one km of sewerage line.

5.2 Housing

Houses were built of dominantly wood and mud walls, Corrugated Iron Sheet (CIS) roof, cement and mud flooring, Wood, mud and stone are the available construction materials in the town.

5.3 Transport

There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from 7 towns. The town has a bus station. There are also 100 Bajaj taxis, 12 minibuses and 322 horse drown carts (306 for public and 14 for commodity transportation) giving intra-urban transport services in the town.  <
