Urban Economy and Role of the Town
Its major role of the town is wereda Administration and Commercial Center. There are 19 manufacturing industries, 5 wholesale trades, 1,200 retail trades, 8 service trades and 3 fuel stations and 7 Garages in the town. There are 4 banks and 2 micro finance organizations giving service in the town.
The average annual revenue of the municipality in 2008-2011 was 5,722,093 Birr and the major sources of revenue were urban land lease, service charge and various taxes. The major investment opportunities in the town are: hotel, tourism development, manufacturing and agro processing
According to CSA 2007, economic activity rate was 6,898 for both sexes; 3,929 and 2,969 for males and females, respectively. The rate of unemployment in the same year was 8.5 for both sexes. The male and female unemployment were 7.9 and 9.4 respectively.
Injibara town has economic linkages with the surrounding areas, Bahirdar and Addis Ababa. The
town gets grain products, livestock supply, natural resources (fuel wood and charcoal) and labor from surrounding areas manufacturing and commercial products from Addis Ababa and Bahirdar.
