4.1 Urban Economy and Role of the Town

The town serves as administration and commerce center. There are one manufacturing industries, 16 wholesale trades, 810 retail trades, 119 service trades, one garage and one fuel station in the town. There are three different financial institutions in the town.

Education

There are three private kindergartens; two government primary schools; seven government Junior secondary schools; two government high school including preparatory, one TVET and one college. The student teacher ratio was known to be 1;37 for primary school and 1;18 for senior secondary school. On the other hand; the student to class room ratio was 1;47 for primary school and 1:81 for senior secondary school.

Health

Regarding health services, there are one hospital which is under construction, one health center, one clinic and three health posts in the town.

Municipal Services

Kemise town has meeting hall, an abattoir, a general and cattle market, public library and ambulance.  The town solid waste is collected door to door using one tractor and dispose in open dump site. There is a street green, forest and three sportfields in the town. Regarding religious services there are two churches for Orthodox Christians, four churches for Protestants and five mosques for Muslims in the town.
